Probably my favourite place in Scotland so far – Cairngorms National Park. If you want to experience the vast open space it is just here. The landscape is various…from woodlands, lakes, hills to the Munros and the plateau. The Cairngorms are a mountain range in the eastern Highlands of Scotland. If you want to climb some of the most popular peaks you should start from the ski center. Besides walking, there are other outdoor activities like camping, water or winter sports, cycling, etc.. In addition to that, this is the only place in Scotland where you can see reindeer! They have been introduced here from Sweden. There are more than hundred of them. What is more, it is possible to touch and feed them if you pay for the visit with Cairngorm Reindeer Center (http://www.cairngormreindeer.co.uk/).

June 2017…it was my second trip to this place. I did not expect anything good from weather which suprised me a lot. This time me and my second half chose hike to Braeriach for the second day. The third highest mountain in Great Britain provides a long approach walk (https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/munros/braeriach) with wild landscapes and massive plateau. We did about 25km that day in the full sun with about 20-25 degrees. That was my first sunburn in Scotland! The third day was pretty cloudy but good enough for hiking to Meall a’ Bhuachaille (https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/cairngorms/meallabhuachaille.shtml) which is small hill but with nice views for Cairngorms. I almost forgot to mention beautiful forest around that area which is like minature Canadian’s one. This is beause Cairngorms provide a unique alpine semi-tundra moorland habitat, home to many rare plants, birds and animals.

The third visit to this place was at south side, next to Braemar. There is about one hour walk to Bob Scott's bothy located in a beautiful scenery, like from a fairy tale. Oh and plenty of munros to climb!

The fourth time we went there during winter and slept one night in Ryvoan bothy. It's very nice place but quite cold, despite the fireplace, this time a year.

 

There is no way to not fall in love with this place. If you have not been yet you must go! ❤
